The easiest thing in the world is to get swept along in the media bilge, the constant fire hose of dross, shock, anger, humour, contradiction and utter pointless waffling nonsense.
I say this from the point of view of a pillock who momentarily got sucked into it. A silly little voice who added his dollop of dross into the slimy mix. I’m not ashamed of what I said, I’m just ashamed that for once I allowed myself to join the very lowest ranks of the human race, the ‘pundit.’
I imagine the reason I thought it was worth it was to try and put a bit of balance into the ridiculous brouhaha about you know who, but it’s a ridiculous endeavour. You can’t balance a liquid, and that’s what you’re dealing with, a thick, sticky, pungent liquid, stand in that and the stain doesn’t wash off for a long time.
So, this is a reminder to myself, don’t get involved. As Marina Hyde put it so succinctly in the Guardian, "Never fight with a pig. Everyone gets dirty, but the pig likes it."
